Have seen this movie twice, and must agree, it is dark picture quality - shame. It is a fun movie, and Blake can do more than carry a tune. The sidekick is truly super. I noticed that it has been downloaded over 15,000 times, bet Herb and the others in this film, wish that had been the case when it came out. I do hope that program someone mentioned did a good job on lightening the picture up a little. Fun movie - for sure.

I liked the storyline though the racial stereotypes, as with any early Hollywood feature, are blatantly evident. For example, the light-complexioned character Blake, speaks well whereas the darker-complexioned sidekick does not and he behaves like a classic, frightened buffoon. The "attractive" woman is also of a light-complexion which allows her to be cast as a sort of love interest.

A good strong story line that was never broken or chopped. I like the sidekick. The only problem with this film is that the print quality is so dark.

I have used an excellant program called TMPGEnc 4 to make modifications to movies. It will do many handy things like syncronize the sound and film, raise the volume, crop, adjust colour and many more.

I would love to show this film on Classic Cinema Online, but it's so dark.

Is there a way to lighten it?
